How to Be Saved

  • God is perfectly holy and good. In the beginning, He created the world perfectly. He created humans to have a relationship with them.
  • However, mankind rejected God by disobedience and became enemies of God through sin(bad deeds/actions) and rebellion.
  • As man multiplied, sin increased even more. In this hell-bound state of mankind, man could not be in fellowship with God as He was a holy(set apart/different/pure) fire, consuming whatever unholy(sinful) enters His presence.
  • In His great love and mercy for us, God had a plan to send His only son in the form of a human, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sin and pay the fine for our rebellion against God, saving us from hell.
  • Hell is a place of torment forever, because God is absent in hell. In withdrawing Himself from hell, He also withdraws(takes away) peace, goodness, love, sanity, rest, etc. because those things are from God.
  • If you believe you are a good person, let’s look at the ten commandments to see if you have sinned against God’s just law:
    • Have you ever lied? If so, what does that make you? A liar, right? (Even if you lied in the past, it’s still on your record. Sin does not fade away with time. There was a case of a former Nazi soldier, who was convicted in 2022 for a crime committed over 70 years prior to his trial.)
    • Have you ever stolen something? Irrespective of its value- because God’s standards are much higher than ours. You better judge yourself right, or else you will stand before the throne of judgment convicted. If you have, what does that make you? A thief/robber, right?
    • Have you ever looked at someone with lust(sexual intentions)? If you have, that makes you an adulterer in God’s eyes. Even if you don’t do it physically, God looks and judges the intentions of the heart.
    • Have you ever hated someone in your heart? If so, God counts that as murder in the heart. Have you realized how high the standards of Almighty God are yet? If so, that’s good because that is when we can realize that we are in need of His grace and that we cannot get into heaven by our own good works.
    • If you have broken any of these laws, you are not in right standing with God. It may not sound pleasing to hear, but knowing the truth will make you want to be saved from the wrath of God forever in hell.
  • Even though all humans who have come to a knowledge of good and evil have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), God being rich in mercy sent His only begotten Son into the world to bear the penalty of our sins on the merciless cross.
  • Jesus was God in the flesh, born to a virgin. He was perfect and never sinned.
  • Jesus came to save us from sin and show us the way to heaven. He taught repentance, was baptized, and He was filled with the Holy Spirit. He healed the sick and cast out demons and He taught the people about the kingdom of God.
  • Although Jesus had never done any wrong, the world, who loves their sin, hated Him because He taught against and called out sin. They persecuted, tortured, and nailed Him to a cross.
  • Jesus allowed them to do this because even though He was the Son of God and could easily stop them from killing them, He freely gave His life in order to save you and pay the price for your sins. He did this because of His great love for you and everyone.
  • God created you and cares for you. He even knows how many hairs are on your head! Just the same way someone says, “I’ll take a bullet for you,” Jesus gave up His life willingly in order to save you from hell, which is the ultimate punishment for sin. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ” (Romans 6:23).
  • Because Jesus had never sinned, death, which was the penalty for sin, could not hold Him. Jesus defeated death and was raised to life again three days later. Now we have the way of salvation.
  • HOW TO BE SAVED?
    • We must believe in Jesus Christ and trust in what He did for us on the cross to atone our sins. This happens through repentance(choosing in our hearts to genuinely turn away from sin and turn towards God), get baptized in water and become filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the spirit” (John 3:5).
    • Then, God’s power frees us from the power of sin and gives us the ability to live a holy life well pleasing to Him as we daily connect with Him through intimate prayer and reading the Bible.
    • If you are in porn, stealing, lying, lust, drugs, or any other sin, big or small, repent(turn from those sins) and go before God in prayer, confess those sins, ask for forgiveness, ask Him to set you free and then truly turn from sin! Repentance is not just confessing your sin, but acknowledging it is wrong in God’s sight and not doing it again.
    • If you struggle with sin, know that Jesus doesn’t want you in sin and is willing and able to set you free, if you want to be free. Sin will never truly satisfy you and will only leave you empty in the end.
    • You must trust in Jesus’ power to set you free from the power of sin, not your own willpower and strength.
    • By truly believing in Jesus, you can have God’s true love, joy, peace, purpose and freedom from addiction/sin. However, belief/faith is not just acknowledging that God exists, but really following Him wholeheartedly and turning from sin. For even the demons know God exists, and tremble.
    • Life’s purpose is to know God personally and serve Him with everything we are. Following Jesus is not just some religion, it’s a real relationship with God where you can encounter God’s power and love and be changed.
    • When we are His disciples(followers), we go out and make disciples. We preach the Gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons just like He did. And we teach them to obey all that Jesus commanded.
    • If you truly follow Jesus, you will be persecuted/discriminated for your faith.
    • If you go/went to church, examine your life, to see if you are lukewarm. Lukewarm means someone who stands halfway with the world and halfway with God. Jesus said He will split the lukewarm out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16). Jesus said, “If you love me, obey my commands” (John 14:15). Do you obey Jesus?
    • If you haven’t truly surrendered ALL sin, please do before it’s too late. Going to church won’t save you.
    • One day Jesus is coming back to the earth and will judge every person accountable for their whole life. The Kingdom of God is coming, and we must be ready. But are you ready to meet God and give account for all your actions?
    • This life is it, and there is no going back when you die. Hell is forever and it is a place of torment, please turn to God with all your heart until it’s too late.
    • It’s not an accident that you are reading this post, it’s by God’s love and mercy that you are able to read this right now.
